Tunisia: Minister of Economy Discusses Bilateral Cooperation and TANIT Project with Italian Delegation
On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Minister of Economy and Planning, Mr. Samir Abdelhafidh, held a working session with a high-level Italian delegation. The delegation included representatives from the Italian Prime Minister’s Office, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the Italian Deposit and Loans Fund, and the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (CIHEAM). The Italian Ambassador to Tunisia, Mr. Alessandro Prunas, also attended the meeting.
The session focused on discussing the launch of the TANIT Project, which falls under the Mattei Program for Supporting Africa. The project aims to address the impacts of climate change and enhance food security through three key components:

The meeting also addressed other components of the financial support program planned for the 2025-2027 period.
Minister Samir Abdelhafidh praised the strong ties between Tunisia and Italy, highlighting Tunisia's commitment at the highest levels to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors in the interest of both nations.
For their part, the Italian delegation emphasized that the TANIT Project reflects the Italian government’s steadfast commitment to supporting Tunisia's development path. They reaffirmed their readiness to enhance the 2025-2027 cooperation program and ensure effective coordination for the successful implementation of its various components.
