Tunisia: Economy Minister and German Ambassador Emphasize Joint Efforts to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

On Friday, December 13, 2024, the Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdel Hafidh, met with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Tunisia, Élisabeth Wolbers.

The meeting, attended by officials from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the German Development Bank (KfW), provided an opportunity to review key areas of economic cooperation, particularly financial and technical collaboration, the development of German investments, and the progress of several cooperation programs and projects funded by the German side.

Samir Abdel Hafidh emphasized the importance of the existing cooperation between Tunisia and Germany and reaffirmed the commitment to further strengthening it in the interest of both countries.

The meeting also served as an opportunity for the minister to present the key reforms being worked on to improve the investment and business climate, as well as the measures recently implemented by the Tunisian government to accelerate the pace of public project execution.

The minister also discussed the development directions for the upcoming period and national priority sectors that could provide a framework for future cooperation, especially in socially relevant areas such as health, education, transportation, and the environment, as well as in other sectors like renewable energy, water management, regional development, and support for the private sector.

For her part, Élisabeth Wolbers expressed her satisfaction with the level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and reiterated her commitment and readiness to further strengthen it to assist Tunisia in achieving its sustainable development goals.
